Your Complete Guide to Electric Vehicle Charging

Can a non-Tesla EV use a Tesla Wall Connector at home?

By LarryLeoUpdated October 4, 2026

Short answer

Yes, with a NACS-to-J1772 adapter — or use Tesla's Universal Wall Connector, which has one built in.

A properly rated NACS-to-J1772 AC adapter lets most J1772 cars charge from a Tesla Wall Connector. Make sure the adapter's current rating meets or exceeds the charger setting.

This is different from the NACS-to-CCS1 DC adapter used at Superchargers.
