Your Complete Guide to Electric Vehicle Charging

Is it bad to DC fast charge my EV every day?

By LarryLeoUpdated October 4, 2026

Short answer

Occasional fast charging is fine; relying on it daily may cost more and can add battery wear over time.

Fast charging generates more heat than Level 2, and battery management systems limit speed to protect the pack. Studies and manufacturer guidance generally suggest frequent fast charging can modestly increase degradation compared with slower charging.

Fast charging is also usually more expensive per kWh than home charging.
